"If I see one more picture of a white woman meditating on the beach, I'm going to have a whole damn moment."

That was me, in training to become a Reiki Master, about to get real un-spiritual. 

And no shade.... White women should definitely meditate (at least 53% reeeeaaallly need to get right with the Universe), and I love the beach. It was just mind-numbing and offensive to go through a whole program and see hardly anyone who looked like me. Especially when I know the power my people carry. I know how Spirit sustains and moves through us. And I know that there are many of us who have been doing this work... And many more who can, want to, and will take it to a higher level just by imbuing it with their essence. 

Long story short: Reiki for Reparation was born. The Level 1 Intensive has been filling the gap for Black people who want to learn Reiki in a way that is authentic and culturally relevant since 2018. Now, we go forward. 

Reiki for Reparation: USUI 2nd Degree provides a thorough grounding in Usui Reiki Level 2, with course materials adapted to show Black people whole, healing, and doing the work. It's for practitioners who have already completed Level 1, and wish to further their knowledge and experience with Universal Life Force Energy. (It also lays the foundation that students will need to pursue the RISING Reiki Advanced Practitioner Certification.) Learn the fundamentals of tapping into the next level of energy work and see yourself reflected back at you during every step of your journey.

Carmen R. H. Chandler

The short story: I want all Black folks to get free, and I’m committed to using all of my gifts and talents (especially those in the realm of BodyMindSpirit healing, self-development, and empowerment) in service of our collective liberation. My vision is a world where we are all free and feeling whole enough to operate in alignment with the Earth, the cosmos, our own true natures, and each other. The long story: Carmen R. H. Chandler calls forth ancient wisdom, healing, and embodiment techniques to create modern holistic wellness programs. A native of the Washington, DC area, she is dedicated to providing innovative, culturally relevant health solutions for the Black community. Infusing her work as an Embodied Liberation Coach, Reiki Instructor, dance healer, and educator with principles rooted in the African diaspora, she is a self-professed “student of the old-school, teacher of the new.” Living by the adage that a healer is one who heals herself, Carmen uses her knowledge and experience to create workshops, design courses, invoke rituals, and hold spaces where others can do the same. Carmen is the creator of FreeForm Embodied Liberation. She received a B.A in African American studies and a B.A. in Communications from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was certified in Massage Therapy by the Arizona School of Massage Therapy, and in MindBody Therapy by Embodied Philosophy.
