The words so many use to describe us - words like "strong," "resilient," "creative" - don't even begin to cut it. We are so much more than the words of this very young language can capture. 

The truth is that Black people, under the most horrendous of pressures, have taken what were already diamonds and transmuted them back into the very stuff of life. Spirit moves all through us. Our culture is rooted in it, and it has sustained us. 

This essential life force - the force Dr. Usui called "Reiki" - is the main ingredient of all of the best things we have created. It has been our manna. We added the flavor, made it into ambrosia, and now the whole of humanity STAYS trying eat off our plate. 

Energy work is not new to us. Though the protocols may be different, energy work is something we've Been doing, and part of who we are. It's time to honor that. 

Reiki for Reparation 2: Heal. Liberate. Elevate. builds on the knowledge from the Level 1 Intensive and the Usui 2nd Degree to provide a framework and methodology for using Reiki as a tool for reversing the effects of racialized trauma.

This vital information will be taught via a comprehensive and ever-evolving manual and 4 live community discussion sessions occurring in January/February 2021. (Recordings  will be available for those who cannot attend live). The curriculum for this course includes, but is not limited to:

  • Reiki for Reparation Theory: Understand the necessity of community-specific healing work, ground yourself in the unique contextual reality of the Black community, an orient toward the purpose of liberation.
  • Trauma-informed Reiki: Learn the fundamentals of trauma-informed healing practice.
  • The Reiki for Reparation Principles: Reminders and affirmations for healers in Black bodies.
  • Reiki for Reparation Sacred Symbols: Rediscover the power in the symbols that our Black DAEUS ancestors imbued with their vital energy, and put them to use in the modern context of Black life.
  • RISING Reiki Methodology: A step-by-step process for performing Reiki sessions, including components that are both culturally relevant and self-liberating.

Embodied Liberation Coach & Energetic Sovereignty Trainer

Carmen R. H. Chandler

The short story: I want all Black folks to get free, and I’m committed to using all of my gifts and talents (especially those in the realm of BodyMindSpirit healing, self-development, and empowerment) in service of our collective liberation. My vision is a world where we are all free and feeling whole enough to operate in alignment with the Earth, the cosmos, our own true natures, and each other. The long story: Carmen R. H. Chandler calls forth ancient wisdom, healing, and embodiment techniques to create modern holistic wellness programs. A native of the Washington, DC area, she is dedicated to providing innovative, culturally relevant health solutions for the Black community. Infusing her work as an Embodied Liberation Coach, Reiki Instructor, dance healer, and educator with principles rooted in the African diaspora, she is a self-professed “student of the old-school, teacher of the new.” Living by the adage that a healer is one who heals herself, Carmen uses her knowledge and experience to create workshops, design courses, invoke rituals, and hold spaces where others can do the same. Carmen is the creator of FreeForm Embodied Liberation. She received a B.A in African American studies and a B.A. in Communications from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was certified in Massage Therapy by the Arizona School of Massage Therapy, and in MindBody Therapy by Embodied Philosophy.
